Course Overview
This two year predominantly mechanical engineering course (equivalent to three A Levels) is an industry recognised qualification which is designed to give you the academic and practical skills required for many modern engineering industries.
Some areas of study include:
- Engineering maths
- Mechanical and electrical principles e.g. physics
- Maintenance principles
- Material science
- Pneumatics
- CAD
- Welding and machining.

Entry Requirements
Minimum five GCSEs, preferably with a B in Mathematics.
Course Delivery
Learners can opt to study an extra relevant A Level alongside the programme to enhance their entry to university.
Progression Opportunities
You can progress on to a wide range of degree programmes or degree apprenticeships leading to careers including mechanical, electrical, electronic and civil engineering. Many of our past learners have achieved Chartered Engineer status and gained employment with prestigious employers such as Formula One, British Airways and GE Aviation.
Staying at Gower College Swansea you could choose either the HND in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
