This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in mechanical engineering, with a responsibility for the design, installation, commissioning and operation of engineering services.

In addition, students would be expected to have a C grade in Maths and a Science subject at GCSE. All students will need to have an interview. 

 

This course is delivered over two academic years.

First year modules are:

Level 4

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering application and study skills
  • Materials and introduction to manufacturing technology
  • Engineering science 1
  • Engineering science 2
  • Engineering design​.

Second year modules are:

Level 5

  • Group project
  • Fault diagnosis and condition monitoring
  • Engineering mechanical principles
  • Management, innovation and sustainability
  • Manufacturing, design and technology
  • Thermofluid mechanics

The qualification opens up career opportunities in consulting, contracting and manufacturing in both the public and private sector. Students can also progress onto the BEng or the MEng at University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

The UCAS code for this course is 8N2G. Tuition fees are £9,000 per year. Students will need to get a tuition fee loan for the full amount. The College is offering a £1,000 bursary per year towards full time HE courses (this is dependent on satisfactory course progression). There may be additional costs associated with this course i.e:
