Sport and Exercise Science Level 3 - Extended Diploma 
Overview
An ideal course for students who are fascinated by how the body and mind perform in sport and want to progress into the sport and exercise science sector. Designed for those aiming for careers such as sports psychology, sports nutrition, sports science and physiotherapy (please note that university entry requirements for physiotherapy can differ in Wales).
The programme provides a strong, academic foundation while keeping learning applied, engaging and relevant. You’ll develop the knowledge, confidence and specialist understanding needed to take the next step into Higher Education, while also building the expertise and professional skills that support future employment in a rapidly growing industry

- Anatomy
- Exercise physiology
- Sport psychology
- Biomechanics
- Sports nutrition
- Sports research
- Sports injuries.
Elements of this course can be delivered through the medium of Welsh.
Key information
Seven GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language, Mathematics and Double Science (Biology desired). Equivalent subjects considered at Distinction grade.
Assessment is through ongoing projects and practical assignments. In the final year students will work on a major project involving research activities.
All students take part in work experience programmes.
This qualification will provide the foundation for studying at degree level in preparation for developing a career in sport science related occupations such as psychologist, biomechanist, nutritionist, kinaesiologist, sports therapy and physiotherapy. It would also be appropriate for students interested in PE teaching.

- Students on this course will be charged for a DBS check which costs £40
- Students are required to purchase a college T-shirt, polo and hoodie at a cost of £70
- Students will have the opportunity to purchase a college tracksuit and sports related kit linked to the sport of their choice
- Minimal costs may be required for local educational visits.
