College achieves CyberFirst Award

Gower College Swansea has obtained a Silver CyberFirst Colleges Recognition Award from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

The award is given in recognition of the College’s commitment to cyber security education.

The NCSC, which is part of GCHQ, aims to recognise schools and colleges whose approach to cyber security education is deemed excellent.

As a result of this accreditation, Gower College Swansea will be formally recognised and promoted by the NCSC, as well as being part of a national network that provides opportunities to engage with local schools, universities and employers on all things cyber.

“We are delighted to have been awarded this Silver accreditation from the NCSC and hope it paves the way for increased partnership working with local industry and the development of a digital skills pathway for young people,” says Leanne Davies, Digital Skills Lead at Gower College Swansea.

“There are so many potential ways that our learners can engage with this initiative, from taking part in events and competitions to applying for university bursaries.

“We are really looking forward to becoming a part of the CyberFirst community.”
