Gower College Swansea has turned into a sea of colour for Rainbow Week 2026, an event that encouraged staff and students to celebrate diversity and inclusivity in a safe and supportive environment.
"We’re delighted that so many people responded so positively to Rainbow Week this year,” says the College’s Equality and Diversity Officer, Gareth May.
“The workshops that ran throughout the week – which focused on inclusion, self-care and LGBTQ+ identities – allowed everyone to get involved, try something new, and show their support.
Across all our six main campuses, the Pride flags flew, with learners and staff competing for the title of ‘best-dressed.”
During the week, the College played host to an amazing array of community partners and organisations including Swansea Bay University Health Board, Mid and West Wales Fire Service, Fast Track Swansea Bay, Swansea Council, and Swansea YMCA.
Students and staff also had an opportunity to chat with representatives from Queertawe, Progress Cymru, Nofela and Barod, and browse the stalls of creative retailers Wonder Burrow and Wonky Cauldron.
Huge thanks to The Gamers Emporium, who offered our staff and students free access to their city centre store all week.
Special thanks also to Teacher Active, who supplied all of the decorations for the week.
The College is also grateful to Castell Howell and Swansea City Football Club who provided a delicious hamper, a signed football and tickets to see a Swans match as prizes for our raffle draw.
“We hope to build on all the amazing work of this year and to continue this yearly tradition of celebrating the identities of all those who make up our College community,” adds Gareth.
