Dawsons staff celebrate professional achievement with CIH qualification success at Gower College Swansea

Gower College Swansea recently celebrated the achievements of property professionals from Dawsons Estate Agents, who successfully completed the Level 2 CIH Letting and Managing Residential Properties qualification.

The strong uptake and achievements from Dawsons’ staff just shows the value placed on gaining recognised qualifications and developing new skills through professional training.

Learners were presented with their certificates during a special celebration event held at the College’s Sketty Hall Business School, recognising their hard work and commitment to professional development as well as their dedication to raising standards within the private rented sector.

The qualification, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of tenancy law, property management and customer care within the private rented sector. It is designed to encourage and actively promote high standards of privately rented accommodation, while helping landlords, letting agents and tenants better understand and fulfil their responsibilities to one another.

The programme also equips individual residential landlords as well as letting and managing agents with the fundamental knowledge required to effectively carry out their roles and navigate the ever-evolving housing landscape.

Lucy Bird, Commercial Manager at Gower College Swansea, said:

“We are incredibly proud of all the learners from Dawsons Estate Agents who have successfully completed the Level 2 qualification. Their commitment to developing knowledge and skills demonstrates a strong dedication to professionalism and raising standards across the private rented sector. The impact of the programme has been clear to see, from upskilling current staff to ensuring professionals remain up to date with the latest legislative changes and industry developments.

It’s fantastic to see learners now continuing their professional development through the Level 3 programme, further strengthening their expertise within the sector. It has been a pleasure to work with such a proactive organisation that clearly recognises the value of developing its people to support and enhance the private rented sector in Wales.”

Ricky Purdy, Business Owner at Dawsons Estate Agents, added:

“This has been a very exciting collaboration to be part of, as we continue our journey here at Dawsons ensuring that our teams are fully abreast of the legislation and requirements that are ever-changing within our industry.

Having such a large number of our team involved and thoroughly enjoying the process in recent months, whilst gaining their qualification and furthering their knowledge, has been an absolute pleasure. We all look forward to continuing this journey and collaboration with the College through 2026 and beyond.”

The celebration highlighted not only the learners’ individual accomplishments but also the importance of ongoing professional training in supporting a high-quality, well-regulated private rented sector.

Following the continued success and growing demand for the Level 2 qualification, Gower College Swansea has expanded its provision to include the Level 3 CIH Letting and Managing Residential Properties qualification.

The Level 3 programme provides learners with the knowledge and understanding of key areas in managing and letting residential property, supporting both entry into and progression within roles such as landlords, property managers and housing managers. It aims to equip learners with the expertise to work effectively in front-line letting and property management roles, while also supporting those already working in related areas to enhance their professional knowledge and career prospects.

The introduction of the Level 3 qualification reflects the College's commitment to meeting industry needs and supporting the professional development of those working within the housing and property sectors.

Congratulations to all learners on their achievement. Their success highlights Gower College Swansea's ongoing dedication to supporting professional development, promoting excellence and helping to raise standards across the housing industry.
