GCS students take top two places at SkillsCompetition Wales final

Engineering students from Gower College Swansea took the top two places at the recent SkillsCompetition Electronics all Wales final.

Niko Leuchtenberg and Matthew Sutch, who are studying towards the Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (Digital Technology) at the Tycoch campus, scooped Gold and Silver respectively at the event at Coleg Cambria.

There were three separate sections to the final – construction of a circuit, prototype of a circuit and a theory examination – which all 15 competitors had to complete within a set time.

“Niko and Matthew – alongside Jack Rees and Alex Hall who also attended the all Wales final – performed brilliantly on the day and were fantastic ambassadors for the college,” says lecturer Steve Williams. “To take Gold and Silver at a prestigious event like this is a huge achievement and the Engineering teaching team are extremely proud of everyone who took part.”
