Apprenticeship opportunities beckon for students

Two Engineering Technology students at Gower College Swansea’s Tycoch Campus have been making waves in the engineering industry, thanks to the help of a former student, David McRae.

David, who completed his Structural Engineering degree at Swansea University and went on to become a Principal Engineer at CB3 Consult, recently reached out to his former tutor, Coral Planas, in search of apprentices to join the Institute of Civil Engineering apprenticeship scheme.

Apprentice awarded Runner Up in 2024 CFA Flooring Apprentice of the Year competition

Gower College Swansea is delighted to share that one of its Level 2 Floor Covering apprentices, Dale Dee-Ray, was recently awarded the runner up award at the prestigious 2024 CFA Flooring Apprentice of the Year competition.

Announced as Highly Commended, Dale displayed his passion for the flooring industry and a drive for excellence, whilst demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his apprenticeship journey.

A team of lecturers from Gower College Swansea has been recognised with a Silver Award for FE Team of the Year in the Pearson National Teaching Awards. Selected from thousands of nominees, the win highlights the remarkable impact they have on shaping the lives of the young people in their care.

Gower College Swansea Sports Awards 2024

Students from Gower College Swansea have celebrated another successful sporting year with a special awards ceremony at the Village Hotel.

Hosted by Kev Johns MBE, the event also featured contributions from ex-Welsh international rugby player and College lecturer Steven Jones, and football legend Lee Trundle.

Staff promote Welsh language learning at Gwyl Tawe 2024

Menter Iaith Abertawe’s festival, Gŵyl Tawe, returned for its second year to the National Waterfront Museum. The festival once again saw performances by a whole host of alternative, contemporary artists who use the Welsh language in varied and exciting ways.

The free festival featured performances from the best of the Welsh language music scene including Parisa Fouladi and Rogue Jones on the main stage sponsored by Cymru Greadigol and bands such as Ci Gofod, Bitw and Alffa on the Gower College Swansea Stage.

Leadership and Management learners celebrate success
