For many young people, the move from school to college is one of the biggest milestones in their education.

From tailored support programmes and campus visits to parent engagement events and transition workshops, the College's collaborative approach is helping hundreds of learners across the region make a successful start to further education.
We spoke to Kate Morgan, Head of Year 11 at one of the College's partner schools, Dylan Thomas Comprehensive, about the difference this partnership is making.
"For some of our more vulnerable pupils, support from Gower College Swansea starts right at the beginning of Year 10," said Kate.
"That early engagement gives them the time and reassurance they need to become familiar with college life before they even submit an application.
"For other learners, the transition begins later in Year 10 through assemblies, workshops and opportunities to meet College staff. It's all about making sure every young person has the information and confidence they need to make the right decision for their future."
As part of the transition programme, learners have the opportunity to visit specialist facilities, including the College's Jubilee Court campus, where they can experience vocational learning in areas such as construction and landscaping while gaining a real insight into College life.
The partnership also extends to families, with Gower College Swansea attending Year 10 and Year 11 parents' evenings to answer questions and provide guidance.
"Having College staff at our parents' evenings has been invaluable," Kate explained. "Parents want to know what support will be available, which courses would suit their child and whether there's financial assistance available. The College team always comes prepared with information and they're incredibly reassuring. They help families understand that the support their child receives at school won't suddenly disappear when they move into further education."
That reassurance is particularly important for families who may be navigating further education for the first time.
"For many of our pupils, they'll be the first in their family to progress to College," said Kate. "By working together, we're helping to break down barriers and raise aspirations. Families begin to see that further education is an achievable and exciting opportunity."
The benefits of the partnership continue long after learners leave school.
"We've seen so many former pupils go on to achieve incredible things after studying at Gower College Swansea, including progressing to Russell Group universities and securing places on highly competitive degree courses," she said. "We know the support they receive during their time at College plays a huge part in those successes."
Kate believes the strength of the relationship between schools and the College is one of the key reasons learners are thriving.
"Moving from school to College can feel like a huge step, but because of the close partnership we have with Gower College Swansea, those barriers are removed. Our learners arrive feeling prepared, supported and ready to succeed."
