Gower College Swansea celebrates Rainbow Week

Students and staff at Gower College Swansea are taking part in Rainbow Week, an event dedicated to raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and celebrating inclusivity and the safe and supportive environment of the College.

The week was officially launched by hugely successful boxing manager and promoter Kellie Maloney who visited the Tycoch Campus to share her personal story of transitioning – an event which was livestreamed across the College for those who could not attend in person.

Mae staff a myfyrwyr yng Ngholeg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi lansio eu Hwythnos Enfys gyntaf erioed gyda’r dyfarnwr rhyngwladol rygbi’r undeb o Gymru Nigel Owens, MBE.

Bwriad Wythnos Enfys CGA yw codi ymwybyddiaeth o faterion LGBTQ+ a dathlu cynwysoldeb ac amgylchedd diogel a chefnogol y Coleg.

Dechreuodd yr wythnos drwy ymrwymo i raglen Hyrwyddwyr Amrywiaeth Stonewall ac anerchiad a sesiwn holi ac ateb gan Nigel Owens, MBE. Roedd Nigel wedi siarad am ei frwydrau â’i rywioldeb a’i iechyd meddwl ei hun, gan dynnu sylw at bwysigrwydd bod yn driw i chi’ch hun.

College’s Rainbow Week celebrates inclusivity of LGBTQ+ individuals

Staff and students at Gower College Swansea have launched their first ever Rainbow Week with Welsh international rugby union referee Nigel Owens, MBE.

GCS Rainbow Week is dedicated to raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and celebrating inclusivity and the safe and supportive environment of the College.

The week started by signing up to Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme and an address and Q&A by Nigel Owens, MBE. Nigel talked about his struggles with his own sexuality and mental health, highlighting the importance of being true to yourself.
