Students encouraged to make better lifestyle choices

AS Health and Social Care students recently organised a special event - ‘Making Better Lifestyle Choices' - as part of their A Level qualification and in conjunction with the college's Kick Start Programme.

The students were required to research factors that affect the health of a specific target group and they chose to look at young people aged 16-20.

Students support White Ribbon campaign

A group of Health and Social Care students from Gower College Swansea have been working hard to raise awareness of domestic abuse issues.

The Level 2 Diploma students were inspired to act following a recent tutorial session delivered by the local multi-agency domestic abuse ‘One Stop Shop.’

Following on from this tutorial, the students decided to support the White Ribbon Campaign, an initiative - devised by men – that is aimed at encouraging everyone to stand up to those who commit violence against women.

Project gets students thinking about money and health

A Level Health and Social Care students from Gower College Swansea recently held a special enterprise / health promotion event at the Gorseinon campus.

Working in groups, they were awarded a £200 grant each from Lloyds Banking Group’s Money for Life Project to organise a campaign called 'For Students By Students.’

This was a fun and creative way for students to share their money management skills while learning about the factors that affect our health and well-being.
