Apprenticeships
Gower College Swansea is one of Wales’ leading apprenticeship providers, offering a wide range of award-winning apprenticeship programmes.
More and more school leavers are signing up for apprenticeships as an alternative to A Levels or vocational courses, seeking to gain practical skills and knowledge in a specific field.
Apprenticeships provide hands-on, real-world experience focused on developing specific skills relevant to your chosen profession. As an apprentice you will earn while you learn, gaining the knowledge, skills and experience that employers value, as you get to apply theoretical knowledge directly to practical tasks.
Apprenticeships can be accessed by people of any age as long as you are employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week.
One of the most attractive aspects of apprenticeships is that you earn a wage while you’re learning. This can help offset educational costs and provide financial stability during your training period.
You can start an apprenticeship at the level that suits you, starting at foundation level with the opportunity to progress to senior management level. Your entry level choices are Foundation Apprenticeship (Level 2) or an Apprenticeship (Level 3) with the possibility of progressing on to a Higher Apprenticeship (Level 4 and Level 5).
Many apprentices are offered permanent positions by the company where they completed their training, and even if not, the skills and experience gained during the apprenticeship programme make you a more attractive candidate to other employers in the industry.
