Key information

Preferably four GCSEs at grade D but must include Mathematics and English, or Vocational Studies (Level 1) with a merit profile.

The course is assessed through practical work, assignments and external exams. Both internal and external assessments are graded Pass, Merit and Distinction. Grades for units are based upon the lowest achieved grade.

Completion of this course with a Distinction Merit (DM) grade profile will allow for progression onto the BTEC Applied Science - Analytical and Forensic Science or Biomedical Science (L3 Extended Diploma).

Learners who have not achieved a grade C in both Mathematics and English language, will be required to resist one alongside the Level 2 applied science course.
