College’s Work-Based Learning provision hailed by Estyn report

Today (27 March) sees the publication of Gower College Swansea’s Estyn (His Majesty’s Inspectorate for Education and Training) report highlighting the positive work of its apprenticeship/Work-Based Learning provision in Wales.

This is particularly pleasing as there has been substantial growth in the College’s apprenticeship provision since 2016 with the number of learners increasing from 250 learners back then, to approximately 3,000 in 2022/23.

Gower College Swansea’s Travel and Tourism students were excited to attend the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) Future You - Wales to the World Student Conference on Tuesday 27 February.

Students were able to learn about the wide range of opportunities that are available within the industry, as well as offering a chance to network with employers to explore future career prospects.

NUS Wales Awards honour outstanding contributions to student welfare and engagement

Gower College Swansea has recently (Tuesday 19 March) scooped two top awards at the NUS Wales conference in Aberystwyth University.

This annual celebration shines a light on the invaluable contributions made by students’ associations, officers, and staff in providing a vibrant and supportive environment for learners.

The College walked away with Members Engagement of the Year and FE Union of the Year for all the work that has been undertaken by the Students’ Union and staff this year.

Gower College Swansea has become one of the latest education institutions to be awarded a Gold CyberFirst Award for its first-rate cyber security teaching.

Gower College Swansea has recently won the AoC Award for Widening Participation at this year’s Association of College’s Beacon Awards.

Attracting hundreds of applications from all over the country each year, the Beacon Awards are the most prestigious awards in further education and have been running for 29 years.

Gower College Swansea enters new VET partnership in Ghana and Malawi

Gower College Swansea is set to strengthen its ties in Africa by taking part in the VET (vocational education and training) Toolbox II project.

The VET Toolbox II project, funded by the European Union and managed by the British Council in Ghana and Malawi, aims to enhance international cooperation to support demand-driven and inclusive vocational education and training. The project is part of a wider programme being delivered across 11 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa through four other European development agencies, Enabel, Expertise France, GIZ and LuxDev.
