Georgia pens prize-winning review

An A Level student from Gower College Swansea has taken first place at the Dylan Thomas Prize book review awards.

Get creative for Adult Learners’ Week 2018!

Gower College Swansea is delighted to be celebrating this year’s Adult Learners’ Week with a series of creative workshops on offer at our Llwyn y Bryn Campus.

The workshops range from drawing and photography, to screen printing and fashion illustration. They are suitable for beginners or those with limited experience of art and design.

All workshops are free and open to those aged 18 and over and will be delivered at our Llwyn y Bryn Campus, 77 Walter Road, Uplands, SA1 4QA.

Young entrepreneurs given a business boost

Three young local entrepreneurs have been given a business boost thanks to the Swansea Seed Fund.

Lucy Parker, Rhiannon Picton-James and Geraint Vaughan have each been given £500 to help expand their brands.

Lucy has developed a thriving photography business and has already received a number of commissions for family portraits and weddings. Her ambition is to be able to work full time in the wedding industry and make memorable images that her clients can cherish forever.

VQ Day 2018 – students celebrate vocational success

The final countdown: a parent’s guide to preparing for exam season

Very soon, hundreds of young people across Swansea will be anxiously heading into college or school to start their exams. Whether its GCSEs or A Levels, the time for revision is upon us – a time that can be a cause of stress and anxiety to many. But as students begin to map-out revision timetables and prep study notes, parents and families might not be so aware of what they can be doing to prepare for exams season. Here to offer parents some advice on all things exam related is Mark Jones, Principal at Gower College Swansea.

All the world’s a stage for GCS students

Almost 30 students from Gower College Swansea have been offered places at some of the UK’s most prestigious drama colleges and universities.

“Our Performing Arts department has had the most amazing twelve months and these stories of successful progression are a wonderful way to end the academic year,” says Learning Area Manager Lucy Hartnoll.

International students head off to Heatherton

Our first year students had a great day out at Heatherton World of Activities during the Easter break.

From water zorbing to zip wiring and go karting, their enthusiasm remained intact even during the rain!

This fun event gave the group a chance to relax together before getting down to the serious business of the upcoming exam season.
