Students head for Hay Festival

Two A Level English students from Gower College Swansea have been selected to attend the Beacons Project residential writing course at the Hay Festival 2018.

Emma Rowley and Sophie Apps are among just 20 young people to win places on the prestigious course, which offers Welsh students the opportunity to develop their creative writing skills and explore careers in writing and journalism by working with professional writers, broadcasters and journalists.

Creative writing competition is a winner

Gower College Swansea has held a creative writing competition to which all AS English students were invited to submit entries consisting of short stories, dramatic monologues or opening chapters. The entries were judged by Jeanne-Marie Williams, English lecturer, who had organised the competition, who was delighted with the standard of work submitted.
