After a series of intense nationwide heats held earlier this year, The highly anticipated SPARKS Learner of the Year 2025 Grand Final has come to an exciting conclusion, showcasing the skills, dedication and passion of the UK’s top electrical students and apprentices. The final, held on April 2nd and 3rd at JTL Training Birmingham, saw seven talented finalists go head-to-head in a rigorous two-day competition.

We are pleased to announce Drew Squires O’Sullivan from Gower College Swansea as our SPARKS Learner of the Year 2025 Runner-Up.

Gower College Swansea is getting ready to host the national finals of a prestigious Apprentice of the Year competition on 24 January.

Among the competitors are three Gower College Swansea students who are hoping to secure a place in the Grand UK Final in Cheltenham in March.

A new facility has been launched at Gower College Swansea that will offer a sector leading training environment for electricians working in hazardous conditions.

The Swansea CompEx Training Centre, the result of a collaboration between the College and C&P Engineering Services, has been funded by the Skills Priorities Programme supported by Welsh Government.

Two students from Gower College Swansea will represent Wales on the national stage at upcoming electrical and plumbing competitions.

Jay Popham was named the winner of the recent regional heat of the SPARKS UK Electrical Apprentice of the Year Competition which was held at the College’s Jubilee Court campus.

Two students have represented Gower College Swansea at prestigious national apprentice competitions.

Mariusz Gawarecki, who is studying towards a Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating, was put forward for the HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year by his lecturer Mike Morris.

“Mariusz is an exceptional student – in fact, he was our overall Engineering Student of the Year in 2015 - and was a fantastic ambassador for the college at this year’s competition, being placed second out of ten,” says Mike.
