Project takes pupils from the classroom to the pitch

An English GCSE booster session took a group of Pentrehafod pupils out of the classroom and onto the football pitch – thanks to Gower College Swansea and the Reaching Wider Partnership.

College lecturer Duane Sanders, who devised the sessions in partnership with the school’s English department, incorporated a competition for the pupils to write a letter about meeting a premiership football player.

Pupils enjoy shadow puppet workshop

Pupils from Bishop Gore School have enjoyed an unusual storytelling and shadow puppet workshop thanks to a partnership with Gower College Swansea.

As part of the Reaching Wider Programme the pupils were able to work with artist David Pitt, drawing and cutting out individual puppet shapes from card and using them to create original stories.

College builds sports links with school

As part of Gower College Swansea's ongoing relationship with Birchgrove Comprehensive School's PE department, Year 11 BTEC pupils visit the Gorseinon campus gym and use the new facilities on a fortnightly basis.

In addition, they are able to pick up advice on the BTEC Level 2 Sport course and possible progression opportunities into college.
