GCSE results day – Thursday 23 August 2018

GCSE results will be available for collection from 9am on Thursday 23 August 2018 (main reception area at Tycoch and the Exams office at Gorseinon)

All students must have photographic identification with them (a student card is ideal or, if you don’t have your student card, a driving licence or passport will be acceptable) when they collect their results from the college.

AS/A Level results day – Thursday 16 August 2018

GCE AS and A Level results will be available for collection from 9am on Thursday 16 August (D4 in Gorseinon)

All students must have photographic identification with them (a student card is ideal or, if you don’t have your student card, a driving licence or passport will be acceptable) when they collect their results from the college. 

Students can nominate someone else to collect results on their behalf but they must write a letter identifying their authorised person and that person must also bring photographic ID with them.

Six ways to enhance future career prospects over the summer holidays

A few weeks into the summer holidays, students will hopefully be starting to feel relaxed and refreshed after all their hard work during the GCSE and A Level exam period.  With a month of holidays left to look forward to, many will be seeking opportunities to give them a head-start in their chosen careers or in the work place in general. Here, Mark Jones, Principal at Gower College Swansea, looks at six ways students across Swansea could make the most of their free time this summer to boost future career prospects.

What comes next? The stepping stones to success for Swansea students

Students across Swansea will now be looking forward to a well-deserved summer break after overcoming their biggest educational challenge yet: their GCSE exams. While many are set for pastures new, there are those who are still deciding on where to take the next steps of their educational journeys. 

For students in Swansea, there are plentiful opportunities for further study.  Mark Jones, Principal of Gower College Swansea, offers his thoughts on the next stepping stones towards success.

Project takes pupils from the classroom to the pitch

An English GCSE booster session took a group of Pentrehafod pupils out of the classroom and onto the football pitch – thanks to Gower College Swansea and the Reaching Wider Partnership.

College lecturer Duane Sanders, who devised the sessions in partnership with the school’s English department, incorporated a competition for the pupils to write a letter about meeting a premiership football player.

Maths GCSE revision classes over Easter break

We are holding Maths GCSE revision classes at the college over the Easter break.

Tycoch students: Room B18a on Tuesday 11 and Tuesday 18 April (2.30pm – 4.30pm)

Gorseinon students: Room F21 on Tuesday 11 and Tuesday 18 April (11am – 1pm)

Students can attend both sessions - please confirm your attendance by emailing karen.phillips@gcs.ac.uk 

There is also a session at our Llwyn y Bryn campus (Room L20) on Wednesday 19 April (10am – 2.30pm) - please confirm attendance by emailing sara.harry@gcs.ac.uk

What a Result! competition winners announced

Students stocked up on some autumn/winter clothing essentials after winning vouchers for Outfit stores in a competition, organised by the South Wales Evening Post and Gower College Swansea, to celebrate A Level and GCSE results.

Sophie Davis, Hafina John, Masuma Aktar and Alice Linforth picked up their £100 vouchers from Andrew Thomas, manager of Outfit in Fforestfach. The fifth winner, Chloe Doyle, was unable to attend.
