Overview
The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a one year course that has been specifically designed to introduce you to practical beauty therapy skills in a realistic working environment.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy and will provide you with the foundation for further learning. It will also enable you to perform your own basic services and to assist others in the salon.
Areas of study include:
- Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Presenting a professional image in a salon
- The art of photographic make-up
- Provide basic manicure treatment
- Provide basic pedicure treatment
- Basic make-up application
- Follow health and safety in the salon
- Working with others in the hair and beauty sector
- Create a hair and beauty image
- Salon reception duties
- Nail art application
- Skin care
- Basic make-up application
- Themed face painting.
Key information
- GCSE Grade D-E in Mathematics and English Language or equivalent
- Applicants must have the ability to work as a member of a team and possess excellent communication skills.
You will attend college for 17hrs per week.
Continual practical assessment and written assignments.
Learners are required to purchase a kit and a uniform as part of their course. Costs will be confirmed during the interview (funding may be available).
This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading professional association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing you for a career as a beauty therapist. Holders of this qualification are eligible to become a professional member of BABTAC.
