Young economist prize for A Level student

An A Level student from Gower College Swansea has been awarded the prestigious Welsh Young Economist of the Year title by Discover Economics.

Cole Brydson, who is in his second year at the Gorseinon campus studying A Levels in Business Studies, Economics and Digital Technology as well as the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales, was recognised for his insightful essay about the drivers of wealth inequality in the UK and how can they be addressed.

Discover Economics is a charity aimed at improving representation in economics.

College proud to support Adult Learners’ Week 2025

Gower College Swansea has marked Adult Learners’ Week 2025 with a series of special events, free courses and taster sessions.

Adult Learners’ Week (ALW) is the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in Wales, with over 10,000 adults taking part each year. The campaign is coordinated by the Learning and Work Institute in collaboration with Welsh Government and other partners.

The campaign aims to inspire more people to discover a passion for learning and develop skills for work and throughout life.

New ‘Skills for the Workplace’ Project to Power Southwest Wales Workforce

Gower College Swansea has launched a new initiative designed to equip individuals across south west Wales with the in-demand skills needed to meet local needs and help people thrive in today’s workforce.

The Skills for the Workplace launch took place at Sketty Hall Business School and coincided with Adult Learners’ Week, making it a fitting opportunity to focus on helping adults retrain and build future skills.

A milestone in sustainable innovation at Gorseinon

Gower College Swansea was proud to mark the recent ‘topping out’ of the new build at Gorseinon, a significant milestone in the redevelopment of the campus.

New students at Gower College Swansea have had a chance to find out more about campus life at the 2025 Freshers’ Fayres.

This year, the events shared a theme of ‘Cynefin’ – a sense of belonging in one’s community.

Rugby legend Alun Wyn Jones champions lifelong learning as ambassador for Adult Learners’ Week 2025

Welsh rugby icon Alun Wyn Jones has launched Adult Learners’ Week 2025, stepping into a new role as ambassador for a national campaign that celebrates lifelong learning. 

The week, which takes place from 15 to 21 September, is run by Learning and Work Institute in partnership with the Welsh Government, and features free courses, events, and taster sessions across Wales. 

Landscaping team in the running for Tidy Wales Award

The Landscaping and Eco Construction team at Gower College Swansea have been shortlisted for a Tidy Wales Award.

Since 1990 the Awards, organised by Keep Wales Tidy and sponsored this year by Wales and West Housing, shine a light on unsung environmental heroes across the country.

Diwrnod Croeso 2025

As a new academic year is set to begin, Gower College Swansea held a very special welcome event for Welsh speaking students at the Gorseinon Campus.

Diwrnod Croeso 2025 saw staff and learners enjoy a range of activities designed to get everyone using their Welsh as they get to know one another.

Special guests included S4C presenter and BBC Radio Cymru DJ Mirain Iwerydd who talked about her career to date and gave advice on how to create engaging reels for social media.
