Statement re: incident at College on Thursday 2 May

Late yesterday afternoon (Thursday 2 May) Gower College Swansea received anonymous information.

Due to the nature of this information and our priority of ensuring that we do everything possible to safeguard the health and safety of all our students and staff, we immediately contacted South Wales Police for advice.

On arrival, the Police asked us to evacuate the Tycoch Campus (including Hill House, Sports Centre and Broadway) as a precaution before undertaking a full search of the site.

Nothing suspicious was found and the College has now reopened.

College scoops two AAC Apprenticeship Awards

Gower College Swansea scooped two awards at the recent AAC Apprenticeship Awards in Birmingham.

This is an incredible achievement, as more than 350 entries were submitted in total from UK colleges, training providers and employers for this prestigious event, which was organised by FE Week and the Association of Education and Learning Providers.

Gower College Swansea - the only Welsh finalist – was shortlisted in two categories, and took home both titles.

Sister School partnership agreed

Sister School partnership agreed

Gower College Swansea has signed a ‘Sister School’ partnership with Wuhan No. 49 High School, China, with both parties agreeing to participate in student and staff exchanges and share best practice.

Wuhan is an official sister city of Swansea. Their ties date back to the 1800s when Griffith John, a pioneering missionary from Swansea, lived in the area and founded one of the largest hospitals in China, The Wuhan Union Hospital.

It is hoped that a group of Wuhan students and teachers will visit the College this year for a study tour.

Gower College Swansea scooped three awards in the Wales HR Awards 2018 in a glittering black-tie ceremony in Cardiff’s Exchange Hotel on Friday 22 March.
