Overview

This course will teach you how to plan and make a lined item of clothing, this could be a waistcoat, a skirt or a dress.

On this course you will learn about different ways to create a fully lined garment. As well as having the opportunity to learn how to plan and manufacture your chosen item you will learn how to combine some new embellishment techniques, like appliqué, patchwork, embroidery or sashiko to ensure the final project you produce will be unique to you.

You can choose to use a commercial pattern, bring along your own pattern design or use a pre-made block as the basis for your design.

Key information

This course is aimed at learners with some sewing and garment-making experience who want to expand their skills and learn new techniques.

You should already have basic machine-sewing skills and some experience making simple garments. New techniques, however, are fully demonstrated from the outset, so no prior knowledge of them is needed.

Face-to-face.

All materials will be provided initially to get you started. You will be expected to provide your own materials and equipment to produce your chosen project.

Learn how to combine your new sewing skills with other patchwork, appliqué or embroidery and sashiko so that you can design wardrobe essentials that are unique to your style.

You can also progress onto other clothing manufacture courses, make a quilted item or a pair of trousers.
