Delivered at the College’s dedicated Flooring Training Facility at Jubilee Court campus in Fforestfach, Swansea, the new courses offer focused, two-day training in Carpet Installation, Domestic Sheet Vinyl and Subfloor Preparation. Priced at £450 per person (VAT inclusive), the courses provide an accessible opportunity for employers to invest in their teams, allowing learners to develop new skills and build on existing experience.
The courses combine essential technical knowledge with hands-on practical training in an industry-focused environment, giving participants the opportunity to develop skills relevant to real-world flooring applications.

Whether employers are looking to upskill existing staff or individuals want to broaden their expertise, these courses offer a valuable opportunity to develop industry-relevant skills and support workforce growth across the region.”
The three courses cover key stages of flooring installation, from preparing surfaces to fitting finished floor coverings.
Carpet Installation develops the knowledge, technical skills and safety awareness needed to install carpet professionally across a range of applications. Training covers subfloor preparation, fitting underlay and installing carpet on flat areas, stairs, bullnose steps and kite winding steps.
Domestic Sheet Vinyl focuses on the techniques required to install domestic sheet vinyl flooring to a professional standard. Participants explore subfloor preparation, moisture testing, setting out, adhesive selection and vinyl installation through a combination of theory and practical exercises.
Subfloor Preparation introduces the essential stages of preparing floors for a finished floor covering, helping learners understand the techniques required to create a suitable foundation for installation.
Open to both newcomers and experienced professionals, the courses offer businesses a practical way to develop their staff’s capabilities while helping individuals broaden their expertise. By making specialist training available locally, Gower College Swansea aims to support employers in addressing skills needs and contribute to the continued development of the flooring sectors across the region.
