Congratulations are in order for former Gower College Swansea student Aaliyah Wood who has been chosen as a recipient of the Peter Roberts Collab Group Bursary.

Whether you're seeking to return to education after a break or looking to embark on a new career path, our Access courses provide the ideal foundation for your educational journey!
Access course opens the door to higher education
The thought of returning to education after a spell away can be quite daunting at first. But more and more adult learners are returning to the classroom to update their skills and boost their career prospects.
Cherene Napier chose to study Access to Business and Financial Services at Gower College Swansea, a course she felt would help her gain employment opportunities in larger organisations with more potential for growth.
Access student has law career in sight
Brwa Mina, known as Kardo by his classmates and friends, is currently studying Access to Law at Gower College Swansea.
Kardo, who was born in Iraq, came to Wales as an asylum seeker in 2016.
“I chose this course because the law is an area that I am passionate about and really good at,” says Kardo. “Law is significant in everyday life - past, present, and future. It helps me gain the essential skills that I will need in my career and working life. The course is dynamic and competitive which suits my ambitious personality.”
The future is bright for Access students
Over 220 Access students at Gower College Swansea have received their Diplomas this summer.
92% of those have secured the university place of their choice on programmes that include nursing, midwifery, law and social work.
This is fantastic news after what has been a very challenging academic year.
One student heading for university is Melenie Jane Box, who started at the College on a Level 2 Essential Skills course before progressing to the Level 3 Access to Law.
Karly is a double award winner
A former Access student from Gower College Swansea has been officially named as a runner-up in the annual Keith Fletcher Memorial Prize ceremony.
Karly Jenkins (second left), who studied Access to Social Welfare at the College before beginning her social work degree at Swansea University, will attend a special presentation event at The Palace of Westminster on 24 April.
It will be the second award given to Karly this year, as she was also the recent recipient of an Agored Cymru Access Learner of the Year Award, in the Outstanding Commitment to Study category.
Focus on well-being for Access students
Access students at Gower College Swansea were invited to an Access conference and Well-being Day at the Gorseinon campus.
Scholarship success for Simon
Former Gower College Swansea Access student Simon Hussellbee has fought off stiff competition to secure a scholarship from the prestigious Gray’s Inn of London, which will enable him to complete his Bar Professional Training Course.
The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn is one of the four Inns of Court (professional associations for barristers and judges) in the capital. To be called to the Bar and practise as a barrister in England and Wales, an individual must belong to one of these Inns.
Access students gain career guidance
Current students on Gower College Swansea’s Access to Higher Education programme met up with former students, who are now working in their dream jobs, for career advice at the Tycoch campus.
The Access programme is aimed at students aged 18 and above who wish to return to education after a break or are looking for qualifications for a change of career, preparing them for study at university.
