Top drama school offers for Acting Company students

Students on Gower College Swansea’s Acting Company course are celebrating offers to some of the UK’s top specialist drama schools.

Among them are Annalise Williamson and Ethan Thomas, who look set to have the enviable task of choosing which prestigious school to progress to. 

Annalise has been recalled to every drama school she has applied for, including the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre school.

American university offer for Bethany

An A Level student from Gower College Swansea has been offered a place at a prestigious US university.

Bethany Wisdom, who is studying A Levels in History, English Literature and French and following the College’s HE+ programme, has been offered a place to study liberal arts at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. 

A Level student heads to American University

Among the 1000-plus students about to progress to higher education from Gower College Swansea is Elli Rees, who has won a place at a prestigious American university.

Elli, who attended Ysgol Gyfun y Strade before studying A Levels in Maths, English Literature, Government and Politics, and Religious Studies at the Gorseinon Campus, will now read for a Liberal Arts degree at St John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland.

Art students aim high for University places

Students at Gower College Swansea’s Llwyn y Bryn Campus are aiming high for university places, with some even following in the footsteps of Stella McCartney. They are all currently studying the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, while offers are coming in from specialist art colleges and top universities across the UK.

Students ready to face the music at top universities

A Level Music students from Gower College Swansea are celebrating after receiving course offers from some of the top universities and conservatoires in the UK.

“We’ve had a fantastic year for student progression from Gower College Swansea to higher education and I’m delighted that so many of them have gained places at these prestigious institutions,” says Curriculum Leader Jonathan Rogers. “They have each undergone an extremely rigorous and competitive auditions process and should feel very proud of their achievements.”

Karly is a double award winner

A former Access student from Gower College Swansea has been officially named as a runner-up in the annual Keith Fletcher Memorial Prize ceremony.

Karly Jenkins (second left), who studied Access to Social Welfare at the College before beginning her social work degree at Swansea University, will attend a special presentation event at The Palace of Westminster on 24 April.

It will be the second award given to Karly this year, as she was also the recent recipient of an Agored Cymru Access Learner of the Year Award, in the Outstanding Commitment to Study category.
