Gower College Swansea ESOL learner wins Inspire! Adult Learning Award
Walid Musa Albuqai, an ESOL learner at Gower College Swansea, won this year’s Different Past: Shared Futures award at the Inspire! Adult Learning Awards, an annual ceremony coordinated by Learning and Work Institute in partnership with the Welsh Government and other partners.

Gower College Swansea ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and GCSE learner, Hisham Saeed, has won the Different Past - Shared Futures Award at the Inspire! Adult Learning Awards.
ESOL student becomes sports ambassador
A Gower College Swansea student has returned from a four-day visit to Bulgaria as part of an Erasmus+ sports project.
The trip came about after ESOL tutors at the college were approached by ColegauCymru to see if any of their students would like to apply for the role of Youth Sports Development Ambassador (YSDA).
ESOL students walk for Care International
Thanks to everyone who supported the ESOL team's annual 'Walk in her Shoes' sponsored stroll for Care International - staff and students braved the rain to walk from Llwyn y Bryn to Brynmill, then Singleton, the seafront (Oystermouth Rd) and back again.
So far they have raised £351.43 - which is a fantastic achievement.
ESOL students 'walk in her shoes'
ESOL staff and students from Gower College Swansea have completed a sponsored walk for the 'Walk in Her Shoes' campaign, to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Around 60 students walked from the Llwyn y Bryn campus to Brynmill and Singleton Parks and then along Swansea Bay, through the city centre and back again.
They raised £265.50 for Care International UK and the money will go towards accessing clean water for women and girls living in extreme poverty around the world.
College helps Swans stars with their language skills
Gower College Swansea has entered into an educational partnership with Swansea City Football Club to teach English as a Foreign Language to players and their spouses.

ESOL students enjoy a slice of Welsh history
As part of this year’s St David’s Day celebrations, the ABE and ESOL teams organised a joint educational trip for around 80 learners to St Fagans National History Museum.
With the weather on their side, the participants were able to explore the outdoor museum in its full glory, picnicking in the grounds of the wonderful Elizabethan manor house, as well as partaking in delicious freshly baked Welsh cakes at the Derwen Bake House.
Fun in the sun for students
Over 50 ESOL students from Gower College Swansea were recently treated to an end-of-term sports day at the 360 Centre where they enjoyed beach volleyball, rounders and an egg and spoon race in the glorious sunshine.
The day was organised by Level 3 Sports students from the Tycoch campus and the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teaching team.
