West Wales employers discover new routes to talent at Legal Lattes event

Gower College Swansea welcomed employers from across the legal sector to Legal Lattes: Wales West, a breakfast event showcasing the benefits of apprenticeship pathways in legal services for professional development.

Held at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel in Narberth, the event brought together subject experts and legal employers to explore the fully funded CILEX Legal Services apprenticeship programmes available at the College, alongside information on AAT Accountancy apprenticeships.

Gower College Swansea Annual Student Awards 2026

Students and staff from Gower College Swansea have celebrated another fantastic year of academic and vocational excellence.

At the Annual Student Awards event at Swansea.com Stadium, hosting duties were overseen by Mal Pope, the Welsh BAFTA-winning singer-songwriter, broadcaster and producer whose career spans music, theatre, film and television. 

Learners from a range of full and part time courses, apprenticeships, higher education pathways and access programmes picked up awards.

Last week saw the opening of the annual Creative Arts Exhibition, which showcased work from A2 Creative Arts students studying A Level Fine Art, Photography, Graphics and Textiles Design. We are delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students at this year's Urdd Eisteddfod, where they showcased their creativity and talent across a range of competitions.

At the regional stage, 80 students competed, with an impressive 37 Art and Design students securing places in the top three and progressing to the national competition.

Our students continued their success on the national stage, earning first, second and third place in the Science Project competition.

A winning season for College footballers

The trophy cabinets are filling up nicely at Gower College Swansea, as the Football Academy celebrates its most successful season to date.

As well as being recently named ECFA Tier 1 League Champions, the players were also Tier 1 National Cup semi-finalists, Tier 1 Mens’ National Premier Championship Cup final winners, and Welsh Schools Cup winners.

Eight players - Nathaniel Osborne, Sam Seagers, Harvey Chapman, James Lester, Jay Farrell-Alli, Ricky Owen, Keane Whitmore, and Ollie Anderson - have gained Welsh Colleges U19's International Caps.

Gower College Swansea welcomed learners, visitors and employers to its Apprenticeship Fair, held on Wednesday 3 June at the College’s Tycoch Campus. 

The event provided attendees with the opportunity to explore the wide range of apprenticeship pathways available across a variety of industries, while speaking directly with expert College staff and leading employers about the opportunities on offer, career progression routes and how apprenticeships can help individuals take the next step in their careers.

College welcomes Tree of Hope sapling

Gower College Swansea has officially welcomed the newest addition to its Green Hwb - a sapling grown from the seed of the legendary Sycamore Gap.

The College applied to have a sapling back in 2024 when the Trees of Hope initiative was first announced by the National Trust.

In total, almost 500 applications were received from around the UK for the 49 saplings (one to represent each foot in height that the Sycamore Gap was at the time of its felling).
