Students enjoy ceramics workshop

Fine Art students from Gower College Swansea have enjoyed a clay workshop with Eluned Glyn, a Welsh ceramic designer whose inspiration comes from the classic forms of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The workshop was an opportunity for students to create sculptures by coiling and slabbing clay and creating shapes by molding with slip.

The students made a range of clay pieces that can support and form new ideas for future projects. They also had an invaluable opportunity to experience and visually engage with the work of a professional working in today’s ceramic industry.

Wedi'i lleoli yn ninas Argos mae'n adrodd hanes Electra a sut y mae hi a'i frawd Orestes yn dial ar eu mam Clytemnestra a'u llystad Aegisthus am lofruddio eu tad. Roedd y cynhyrchiad arbennig hwn wedi defnyddio set sy'n debyg i'r rhaglen deledu Jeremy Kyle fel cefnlun ar gyfer datblygu'r stori.

Students perform a Greek tragedy - in Welsh

As part of their final few weeks of classes before the Summer break, AS Level Drama students at Gower College Swansea were given the opportunity to prepare a bilingual production of Sophocles' Electra.

Set in the city of Argos, the play recounts the tale of Electra and the vengeance that she and her brother Orestes take on their mother and stepfather following the murder of their father. This particular production used the set of a Jeremy Kyle-type TV programme as a backdrop for the developing story.
