International department receives education award
Gower College Swansea has received an Education First (EF) High School Global Education Excellence Award.
The award was given to the College in recognition of its role in helping a number of their students achieve excellent A Level results and progress to some of the world’s most prestigious universities.

Students at Gower College Swansea have raised an astonishing £11,000 over the past two years – money that has been donated to the Kenya Community Education Project
During each year of their time at College, these students have organised a range of charity events including a walrus dip in the freezing waters of Caswell Bay (in the middle of December), two separate climbs up Mount Snowdon, and a gruelling 40-mile walk through Cannock Chase.
In addition, they took it in turns to manage a stall in the reception of the Gorseinon Campus where they sold refreshments.

Gower College Swansea is delighted to be celebrating this year’s Adult Learners’ Week with a series of creative workshops on offer at our Llwyn y Bryn Campus.
The workshops range from drawing and photography, to screen printing and fashion illustration. They are suitable for beginners or those with limited experience of art and design.
All workshops are free and open to those aged 18 and over and will be delivered at our Llwyn y Bryn Campus, 77 Walter Road, Uplands, SA1 4QA.

Gower College Swansea student Taylor Williams has been awarded a place on the Hay Festival Beacons Project, a prestigious, free workshop residency for 16-18 year olds interested in writing.
Taylor is currently studying A Levels in English Language, English Literature and Media Studies at the Gorseinon Campus.

Gower College Swansea’s Premier Football squad have retained the Welsh Colleges Cup, beating Cardiff and Vale College 3-1 in the final.
Over the past four seasons, the team’s success has seen it pick up the Welsh Colleges Cup and the Welsh Schools Cup, as well as being named British Cup and Welsh Cup finalists.

Gower College Swansea students performed exceptionally well at the recent AoC National Championships in Nottingham.
In the Men’s Table Tennis competition, team members Jarrett Zhang, Jacob Young and Matthew Jones collected the first of three Silver medals.
Freya Fleming and Niamh Silvey were both members of the Welsh Colleges squad that took home the Silver medal for Ladies Hockey.

Three A Level students from Gower College Swansea have claimed prizes at the 2019 DylanEd book review competition, which is organised by Swansea University as part of the wider International Dylan Thomas Prize celebrations.
The students, who are all studying AS English Language and Literature at the Gorseinon Campus, entered the 16-18 category of the competition and were awarded their prizes at a recent event in the Guildhall.

For the Up Next with Pride showcase at the Princess Royal Theatre – which was organised by Jermin Productions - music students from the Llwyn y Bryn Campus took their place amongst singers, dancers, choirs and young performers to put on a show that has been described as an ‘explosion of courage, confidence and of course talent!’
