Annog disgyblion i ‘anelu’n uchel’ mewn digwyddiad Coleg

Yn ddiweddar, trefnodd Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe ddigwyddiad arbennig i ddisgyblion Blwyddyn 10 o ysgolion uwchradd ar draws Abertawe.

Roedd lansiad rhaglen Sylfaen Seren yn Stadiwm Liberty wedi rhoi cyfle i bron 400 o bobl ifanc ddysgu rhagor am yr amrywiaeth o ddewisiadau addysg uwch y gallent eu harchwilio ar ôl cwblhau eu cyrsiau Safon Uwch.

Pupils encouraged to ‘aim high’ at College event

Gower College Swansea recently organised a special event for Year 10 pupils from secondary schools across Swansea.

The launch of the Welsh Government’s Seren Foundation programme at the Liberty Stadium enabled almost 400 young people to find out more about the range of higher education options they could explore after they complete their A Levels.

Mae pedwar myfyriwr o Goleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi bod yn llwyddiannus yng nghystadleuaeth Ysgoloriaethau Mynediad Prifysgol Aberystwyth. 

Eleni, mae’r Brifysgol wedi dyfarnu 68 o Ysgoloriaethau a nifer o Wobrau Teilyngdod i fyfyrwyr sy’n gwneud cais i astudio yn Aberystwyth ym mis Medi 2018. 

Dyfarnwyd Ysgoloriaeth Athrofa i Enrique Thisby, Ysgoloriaeth Evan Morgan i Emma Burton, Gwobr Teilyngdod i Darson Beeston, a chynnig diamod i Jessica Lewis ar sail eu perfformiadau cryf yn yr arholiadau.

Gower College Swansea Students Win Aberystwyth University Awards

Four students from Gower College Swansea have been successful in Aberystwyth University’s Entrance Scholarship competition.

This year, the University awarded 68 Scholarships and a number of Merit Awards to students applying to study at Aberystwyth in September 2018. 

Enrique Thisby received an Institute Scholarship, Emma Burton received an Evan Morgan Scholarship, Darson Beeston received a Merit Award and an unconditional offer was awarded to Jessica Lewis on the basis of their strong performance in the exams.

Anerchiad prifysgolion blaenllaw yn denu 200 o fyfyrwyr i'r Coleg

Yn ddiweddar, roedd bron 200 o fyfyrwyr Safon Uwch wedi ymgynnull ar gampws Gorseinon Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe i gael cyngor arbenigol ar ymgeisio i’r prifysgolion gorau.

Roedd yr anerchiad, a draddodwyd gan Dr Jonathan Padley, Cymrawd a Thiwtor Derbyn yng Ngholeg Churchill, Caergrawnt, wedi canolbwyntio ar yr hyn y gall Caergrawnt, Rhydychen a phrifysgolion tebyg ei gynnig a sut i ddechrau paratoi cais cryf.

Top universities talk attracts 200 students to college

Almost 200 young people recently gathered at Gower College Swansea’s Gorseinon campus to gain specialist advice on applying to top universities.

The talk, given by Dr Jonathan Padley, Fellow and Admissions Tutor at Churchill College Cambridge, focussed on how to put together a strong application when applying to an Oxbridge or Russell Group institution.

A Level students from the College were joined by pupils from Bishop Gore School, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe, Morriston Comprehensive School, Olchfa Comprehensive School and Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr.
