Farewell to the Class of 2019

Some of our departing international A level students recently attended a graduation lunch at Sketty Hall.

The lunch was a celebration of the students time at the College and all guests enjoyed a traditional British meal.

Our A2 students currently hold offers from 20 of the 24 Russell Group Universities, including Oxbridge.

The International department wishes all of our A2 students a fond farewell and every success for their future.

Cytuno ar bartneriaeth Chwaer-ysgol

Mae Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi arwyddo cytundeb bartneriaeth ‘Chwaer Ysgol’ gydag Ysgol Uwchradd No.49 Wuhan, Tsieina. Mae’r ddau bartner wedi cytuno i gymryd rhan mewn cyfnewidiau staff a myfyrwyr ac wedi cytuno i rannu arferion da.

Mae Wuhan yn chwaer-ddinas swyddogol i Abertawe. Mae cysylltiadau’r ddwy ddinas yn dyddio yn ôl i’r 1800au pan oedd Griffith John, cenhadwr arloesol o Abertawe, yn byw yn yr ardal. Sefydlodd John un o ysbytai mwyaf Tsieina yn ystod y cyfnod hwn, sef Ysbyty Undeb Wuhan.

Sister School partnership agreed

Gower College Swansea has signed a ‘Sister School’ partnership with Wuhan No. 49 High School, China, with both parties agreeing to participate in student and staff exchanges and share best practice.

Wuhan is an official sister city of Swansea. Their ties date back to the 1800s when Griffith John, a pioneering missionary from Swansea, lived in the area and founded one of the largest hospitals in China, The Wuhan Union Hospital.

It is hoped that a group of Wuhan students and teachers will visit the College this year for a study tour.
