Gower College Swansea hosts Microsoft Innovation Day

Gower College Swansea recently welcomed Microsoft and industry experts to Tycoch Campus for a flagship Microsoft Innovation Day, a key milestone in the College’s growing relationship with the global technology leader.

The Innovation Day forms part of a wider programme of activities between Gower College Swansea and Microsoft, and through a series of Microsoft-focused interventions, the College has been working to bring cutting-edge digital technologies and insights to learners and staff, helping to embed innovation and digital skills across all areas of curriculum.

Celebrating success of the first User Centred Design apprenticeship in the UK

The first ever apprenticeship course focusing on putting people at the centre of the design of digital public services is celebrating the successful graduation of its three students.

The User Centred Design apprenticeship was developed by the Centre for Digital Public Services (CDPS) in partnership with Gower College Swansea (GCS).

Gower College Swansea is celebrating the achievements of five apprentices from Swansea Council’s Digital Services team, who have recently completed their two-year Telecoms Professional apprenticeship programme. Gower College Swansea was thrilled to mark the achievements of a recent cohort of learners from Swansea Council with a celebration event at Sketty Hall Business School.

The event marked the culmination of months of hard work and dedication, as participants were officially presented with their certificates after completing professional qualifications in Leadership and Management, Data Analytics and Housing.

Gower College Swansea was officially presented with the Gold CyberFirst Award by representatives from CyberFirst and Jisc on Thursday, 25 April.

The award follows the College being recognised for its commitment to inspiring the latest generation of cyber security experts and bridging the cyber skills gap.

Gower College Swansea has become one of the latest education institutions to be awarded a Gold CyberFirst Award for its first-rate cyber security teaching.

The CyberFirst programme is run by the National Cyber Security Centre, part of GCHQ. The programme recognises schools and colleges that can demonstrate a commitment to inspiring the latest generation of cyber security experts and bridging the cyber skills gap.
