Photography (90 Credit Diploma)

Course Overview

There will be a strong emphasis on practical working in both the studio and on location on this one-year course. Learners will explore a variety of genres including advertising, fashion, documentary, travel and many other areas of photography. They will follow set briefs and have the opportunity to write their own professional briefs in their own specialist pathways.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, a Merit at a Level 2 related course or industrial experience required to undertake this course. Subject to interview and portfolio of work.

Course Delivery

Learning will take place in the Llwyn y Bryn campus in Uplands, Swansea which has a specialist studio space, purpose built Mac digital suites and a fully functioning black and white darkroom.

The course will be 19 direct teaching hours per week, which will combine formal lessons, workshops and tutorial led guidance.

Progression Opportunities

Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, degree, foundation degree or HND.

Additional Information

Students will need access to their own DSLR and will probably find the need to purchase new photographic equipment throughout the course.

Students will regularly partake in location based photographic shoots. There will be an opportunity for students to attend Paris Photo Festival so witness the largest photographic festival in Europe.

A studio fee of £75 will be required per year.
