The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 3 Diploma in Accounting prepares students to progress into a career in business, finance or professional accountancy.
You will learn and develop skills needed for financial processes, including accounting principles and concepts, advanced bookkeeping and preparing financial statements. You will also understand the business environment, technology used in finance and accounting, business issues regarding payroll and value added tax (VAT), management accounting techniques, ethical principles and sustainability considerations for accountants.
Units:
- The course covers a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. It comprises four mandatory units:
- Business Awareness
- Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
- Management Accounting Techniques
- Tax Processes for Businesses.

Completion of AAT Level 2 Accounting or equivalent accounting qualifications or work experience in accounting. Open to students of all ages.
AAT will require all students to register with the professional body. Restrictions to membership may apply. More information is available at www.aat.org.uk.

The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable students to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning.
The finance, accountancy, business and communications skills developed in the AAT Diploma in Accounting can lead to employment as:
- Finance assistant
- Accounts assistant
- Audit trainee
- Accounts payable and expenses supervisor
- Credit Controller
- Accounts Payable clerk
- Practice Bookkeeper
- Payroll administrator/supervisor
- Tax assistant.
Students will be able to progress to the AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting completion of this level.
