Historic Sketty Hall set to benefit from brand new renovation plans

Gower College Swansea’s Sketty Hall is set for renovation under proposed new development plans.

The Grade II listed building, nestled in beautiful grounds close to Singleton Park, will be repurposed as a Business School, home to a wide range of professional courses as well as higher-level qualifications and degree apprenticeships.

The iconic building has been part of the College’s estate since 1994 and in that time has enjoyed its reputation as a popular venue for weddings, dinners and lunches as well as being the prime location for our platinum status accountancy courses.

However, with the continued growth in the demand for these and other courses, the site will now become a dedicated space for the College's teaching and learning provision.

The College is pleased to announce that this project has been 65% match funded by the Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools and Education Programme

The project, backed with £1.46 million from the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education Programme, will help develop the Business School to meet the needs of future learners.

The 21st Century Schools and Education Programme aims to transform the learning experience of students, ensuring they are taught in classrooms with the technologies and facilities needed to deliver a 21st Century curriculum.

Mark Jones, Principal of Gower College Swansea said: “We are delighted to announce that we are making plans to renovate Sketty Hall into a brand new Business School.

“It will bring a new dimension to the College’s portfolio, offering a wide range of higher level and professional courses. It will also feature a new student social space, coffee bar and library.

“The renovation will allow us to capitalise on our already strong learning provision in these areas, enabling us to expand even further going forward.

“We are currently working with the local council, heritage consultants and wider College community to deliver a renovation that Swansea will be proud of and which will offer even more opportunities for our students.”

The College can confirm that all regular guests and visitors have been consulted with as part of the communications surrounding the new plans.
