Covid update from Principal, Mark Jones (18 February)

Diweddarwyd 18/02/2022

The announcement by the Welsh Government last Friday was clear that any decision for further reductions in Covid restrictions was now for local discussion, using the Local Infection Control Decision Framework.

Therefore, this week we have met with our Regional Incident Management Team and education colleagues in our local colleges and can confirm that, from 28 February, face coverings will be removed in all classrooms and workshops.

Please note that face coverings will continue to be required in all communal areas after half term.

Clearly, there are plenty of ongoing discussions into possible further reductions in the near future and, as soon as decisions are made, we will communicate that. But for now, the change in face coverings in teaching areas is the only change that will apply from 28 February.

The numbers of positive Covid cases in Swansea – particularly amongst adults – remains relatively high and we are keen that our figures within the College remain as low as I am pleased to report that they have been to date.
