Gower College Swansea hosted the Industrial Electronics World Skills Welsh Regional Final on 3 June and saw its own students securing first, second and third places! Corey Nixon came out on top, having already won the Welsh Industrial Skills Final. Christopher Protheroe took second place and Chantelle Simpson came third.

Corey was also on the shortlist for the VQ Day Learner of the Year 2014.

Steve Williams, Curriculum Leader for Electronics, commented: “This is an excellent outcome for Gower College Swansea Digital Technology students. Competitors are set four challenging tasks, including software circuit design, advanced soldering skills, theoretical assessment and computer programming.”

The winners of the regional finals have the opportunity to advance to the World Skills squad competing in the World Skills finals in the NEC Birmingham.
