Access students gain career guidance

Current students on Gower College Swansea’s Access to Higher Education programme met up with former students, who are now working in their dream jobs, for career advice at the Tycoch campus.

The Access programme is aimed at students aged 18 and above who wish to return to education after a break or are looking for qualifications for a change of career, preparing them for study at university.

Former students that went on from Gower College Swansea’s Access programme to university and are now working in the nursing, social welfare and counselling professions turned up to share their education journey and answer questions.

Of the 270 students who successfully completed the programme last year, 231 gained places at university – these included midwifery at Swansea University, physiotherapy and midwifery at King’s College, London, clinical psychology at the University of East London, paediatric nursing at Bristol University, business at London Metropolitan University, English at Bath University, history at Portsmouth University and business at Munich University.
