Mae Sally Hughes yn edrych ymlaen at yrfa ddifyr gyda Tata Steel ym Mhort Talbot ac yn gobeithio ysbrydoli merched eraill i ddilyn gyrfa wyddonol.

Sally oedd yr unig ferch mewn grŵp o brentisiaid technegol a gychwynnodd gyda’r cwmni ym Mhort Talbot ym mis Medi 2016 a dywed na fu’n hawdd llwyddo mewn amgylchedd mor wrywaidd.

Fodd bynnag, mae’r ferch ifanc 19 oed o Bort Talbot yn benderfynol o gyflawni ei photensial trwy fanteisio ar bob cyfle a gaiff.

Shortlisted Sally is a science career role model at Tata Steel

Sally Hughes is on course for a rewarding career with Tata Steel in Port Talbot and hopes to inspire other young women to follow a science career pathway.

The only female in a group of technical apprentices recruited by the company in Port Talbot in September, 2016, she says it has not been easy to be successful within a male dominated environment.

However, the 19-year-old from Port Talbot is determined to reach her full potential by embracing all opportunities available to her.

SkillsCymru yw cyfres ddigwyddiadau flynyddol fwyaf Cymru am yrfaoedd, sgiliau, swyddi a phrentisiaethau a fydd yn dychwelyd i Landudno a Chaerdydd ym mis Hydref 2017.

Mae’r trefnyddion yn chwilio am gyflwynwyr newydd, a gaiff eu dilyn gan griw ffilmio wrth iddynt fforio’r digwyddiad a chyfweld ag arddangoswyr ac ymwelwyr.

Michelle was the face of SkillsCymru – will you be next?

The hunt for aspiring TV presenters, radio DJs or YouTubers is on, as young people across Wales are encouraged to apply to be the “face” of SkillsCymru.

SkillsCymru is Wales’ largest annual series of careers, skills, jobs and apprenticeship events and will return to Llandudno and Cardiff in October 2017.

The organisers are searching for new “hosts”, who will be followed by a film crew as they explore the event and interview exhibitors and visitors.

Llongyfarchiadau i Kaitlyn am lwyddiant Salon Cymru

Mae’r fyfyrwraig harddwch Kaitlyn Hole, sy’n astudio’r cwrs rhan-amser Tystysgrif mewn Colur Cosmetig yng Nghanolfan Broadway wedi dod yn ail yng nghystadleuaeth flynyddol Salon Cymru (categori Lefel 2 Colur).

"Dw i wrth fy modd gyda’r canlyniad ac yn falch dros Kaitlyn," dywedodd y darlithydd Cathy Mitchell. "Roedd yr holl fyfyrwyr a gymerodd ran yn y gystadleuaeth yn wych – o ran eu gwaith caled cyn y digwyddiad a’r gwaith ardderchog a wnaethon nhw ar y diwrnod."

ILS students take Eisteddfod prize

Independent Living students from Gower College Swansea have taken third prize at this year's National Eisteddfod

The students - Nyle Bowen, Laura Evans, Kerri Green, Stephanie Harris, Joshua Jones, Amy Lewis, Abigail Maguire, Elle Wilkins and Jessica Williams - devised their piece of work around the theme of 'belonging'.

Congrats to Kaitlyn for Salon Cymru success

Beauty student Kaitlyn Hole, who is studying the part time Certificate in Cosmetic Make Up course at the Broadway Centre, has taken second place at the annual Salon Cymru competition (Level 2 Make Up category.)

"I'm delighted with this result and really pleased for Kaitlyn," says lecturer Cathy Mitchell. "All the students who participated in the competition were amazing - both in terms of their hard work leading up to the event and the excellent standard of work they produced on the day."

Digital Technology students win at EESW!

A team of Digital Technology students from Gower College Swansea have performed exceptionally well at the recent Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW) finals at Swansea University Bay Campus - winning the 'Best College in Wales' category.

The winning students - Cody Wilks, Sara Vonk, David Osbourne and Kaleb Thomas - worked alongside Tongfang Global (THTF) for several months to develop their prototype ahead of the event.
