College HR team up for top award

Gower College Swansea’s HR department is in the running for another top award.

The team have been shortlisted in the Best In-House Team category at the CIPD Wales Awards, which take place at Cardiff City Hall on 15 November.

This particular award recognises HR teams that have worked closely together to deliver value through people-focused initiatives and practices. 

Local leader shortlisted for national leadership awards

Sarah King, HR Director at Gower College Swansea, has been named a finalist in this year’s Leading Wales Awards.

Sarah has been nominated in the Leadership in the Public Sector category for her role as HR Director where she has transformed the human resources function from a policy driven department to one that puts staff wellbeing and engagement at the heart of everything it does.

Diwrnod iechyd a lles 2019

Yn ddiweddar, roedd Coleg Gŵr Abertawe wedi cynnal ei ail Ddiwrnod Iechyd a Lles blynyddol ar Gampws Tycoch.

Roedd dros 400 o aelodau o staff wedi mwynhau’r gweithgareddau rhad ac am ddim oedd yn cynnwys ioga, swingball, pêl-fasged chwyddadwy, teithiau cerdded tywys, tai chi, garddio, gwers dawns â thema Greatest Showman, canu a sesiynau tylino corff ymlaciol.

Health and well-being day 2019

Gower College Swansea recently held its second annual Health and Wellbeing Day at the Tycoch Campus.

Over 400 members of staff enjoyed the free activities which included yoga, swingball, inflatable basketball, guided walks, tai chi, gardening, a Greatest Showman-themed dance lesson, singing and relaxing massages

Staff were also able to browse the stalls set up at the College’s Sport Centre and find out more about gym membership, fitness and nutrition and other initiatives such as the College book club and Health Assured employee assistance programme.

Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi ennill Gwobr Aur y Safon Iechyd Corfforaethol am les staff!

Mae Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi cael ei gydnabod gan Lywodraeth Cymru am safon uchel iechyd a lles ei staff trwy ennill gwobr Aur y Safon Iechyd Corfforaethol.

Wedi’i rhedeg gan Lywodraeth Cymru trwy Cymru Iach Ar Waith, y Safon Iechyd Corfforaethol yw’r nod ansawdd ar gyfer hyrwyddo iechyd yn y gweithle yng Nghymru. Mae’r safon yn cydnabod arferion da ac yn targedu materion afiechyd ataliol allweddol a blaenoriaethau Her Iechyd Cymru.

Gower College Swansea has achieved Gold in Corporate Health Standard for staff wellbeing!

Gower College Swansea has been recognised by Welsh Government for the high standard of health and wellbeing of its staff through successfully achieving the Gold Corporate Health Standard award.

Run by the Welsh Government through Healthy Working Wales, the Corporate Health Standard (CHS) is the quality mark for workplace health promotion in Wales. The standard recognises good practice and targets key preventable ill-health issues and the Health Challenge Wales priorities.

Cydnabyddiaeth i staff yn nigwyddiad Gwobrau Gwasanaethau Hirdymor

Yn ddiweddar, cynhaliodd Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe ddigwyddiad llewyrchus yn Stadiwm y Liberty er mwyn anrhydeddu aelodau o staff sydd â dros 20 mlynedd o wasanaeth.

“Dyma’r ail flwyddyn yn olynol i ni gynnal digwyddiad Gwobrau Gwasanaethau Hirdymor. Mae’n bwysig ein bod yn cydnabod ymrwymiad a theyrngarwch cynifer o aelodau’n staff,” meddai Cyfarwyddwr yr Adnoddau Dynol, Sarah King. “Roedd hefyd yn gyfle perffaith i arddangos côr newydd staff y Coleg am y tro cyntaf , a braf yw dweud eu bod wedi creu cryn argraff drwy berfformio mor arbennig.”

Staff recognised at Long Service Awards

Gower College Swansea recently held a special celebratory event at the Liberty Stadium to honour members of staff with more than 20 years’ service.

“This is the second consecutive year that we have held these Long Service Awards as we feel it is very important to recognise the dedication and loyalty of so many of our members of staff,” says Director of HR Sarah King. “It was also a perfect opportunity to showcase the College’s brand new staff choir who made their debut at the event and who gave a fantastic performance.”
