Cyn-fyfyriwr yn ennill teitl Dysgwr VQ Lefel Ganolradd y Flwyddyn 2019

Mae cyn-fyfyriwr Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe Collette Gorvett wedi cael ei henwi yn Ddysgwr Lefel Ganolradd y Flwyddyn yng Ngowbrau VQ 2019.

Roedd Collette, sydd bellach yn gweithio yn The Ritz yn Llundain, wedi ymuno â Choleg Gŵyr Abertawe yn 2015 i astudio Diploma Lefel 1 mewn Coginio Proffesiynol cyn symud ymlaen i’r Diploma Lefel 3 mewn Coginio Proffesiynol Uwch, Cegin a Bwtri.

Former student named VQ Intermediate Learner of the Year 2019

Former Gower College Swansea student Collette Gorvett has been named Intermediate Learner of the Year at the VQ Awards 2019.

Collette, who now works at The Ritz in London, joined Gower College Swansea in 2015 to study the Level 1 Diploma in Professional Cookery before progressing through to Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Professional Cookery, Kitchen and Larder.

Cystadlodd Collette Gorvett, sydd yn awr yn gweithio yn y Ritz yn Llundain, yn erbyn 19 o rai eraill yn y categori Gwasanaethau Tŷ Bwyta a dyfarnwyd Medaliwm Rhagoriaeth iddi hi.

Gold and glory for Team UK

Team UK – made up of the nation’s top young apprentices and students – has returned from the EuroSkills Finals in Budapest covered in precious medals and glory.

Among them is a former Catering and Hospitality student from Gower College Swansea.

Collette Gorvett, who now works at The Ritz in London, competed against 19 others in the Restaurant Services category and was awarded a Medallion of Excellence.

Mae dau fyfyriwr Lletygarwch o Goleg Gŵyr Abertawe yn barod i gynrychioli Cymru yn Rowndiau Terfynol Cenedlaethol WorldSkills UK LIVE.

Bydd Paige Jones, sy’n dilyn cwrs Diploma Lefel 3 mewn Goruchwylio Gwasanaeth Bwyd a Diod, a Paulina Skoczek, sy'n astudio Diploma Lefel 2 mewn Coginio Proffesiynol, yn cymryd rhan yn Rowndiau Terfynol Gwasanaethau Bwyty yn NEC Birmingham ym mis Tachwedd.

Catering students prepare to represent Wales

Two Hospitality students from Gower College Swansea are set to represent Wales at the WorldSkills UK LIVE National Finals.

Paige Jones, who is on the Level 3 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service Supervision course, and Paulina Skoczek, who is studying Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery, will take part in the Restaurant Services Finals at Birmingham’s NEC in November.

Darlithydd yn ŵr gwadd yn lansiad popty

Stephen Williams, darlithydd Arlwyo a Lletygarwch yng Ngholeg Gŵyr Abertawe, oedd y gŵr gwadd yn agoriad swyddogol popty newydd sbon yng nghanol y ddinas.

Perchennog yr Hong Kong Bakery yn Heol Brynymor yw Peter Wong, cyn-fyfyriwr yn y Coleg.

“Roedd Peter wedi cwblhau ei gymwysterau arlwyo gyda ni a dychwelyd fel oedolyn sy’n dysgu, gan ddilyn cwrs Pobi a Phwdinau gyda fi,” dywedodd Stephen. “Roeddwn i wrth fy modd pan ofynnwyd i fi dorri’r rhuban i lansio ei fenter busnes newydd a dwi’n dymuno pob llwyddiant iddo ar gyfer y dyfodol.”

Lecturer guest of honour at bakery launch

Stephen Williams, Catering and Hospitality lecturer at Gower College Swansea, was guest of honour at the recent official opening of a brand new bakery in the city centre.

The Hong Kong Bakery on Brynymor Road is owned by Peter Wong, a former student at the College.

“Peter completed his catering qualifications with us and then returned as an adult learner, taking a part time Baking and Just Desserts course with me,” says Stephen. “I was delighted to be asked to cut the ribbon to officially launch his new business venture and wish him every success for the future.”

Dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, mae'r myfyrwyr - dan arweiniad y Rheolwr Maes Dysgu a'r darlithydd patisserie Mark Clement - wedi cynhyrchu amrywiaeth o gacennau â thema gan gynnwys coeden Nadolig siocled saith troedfedd, dynion eira yn 'chilio mâs', a chyffeithiau cymhleth o'r enw Deck the Halls, Frozen a Starry Night.

All Wrapped Up!

Level 3 Patisserie students at Gower College Swansea have been very busy designing, icing and decorating the annual Christmas display piece.

Over the past few years, the students – guided by Learning Area Manager and patisserie lecturer Mark Clement – have produced a variety of themed cakes including a seven foot chocolate Christmas tree and snowmen ‘chilling out’ and elaborate confections called Deck the Halls, Frozen and Starry Night.
